I gave a friend of mine a handmade apron and recipe book recently for her birthday and she was amazed that I cook every single day. Is that weird? I guess I never realized how much more we ate out when I was working. It’s been so fun to try new recipes as i LOVE to cook. This little encounter gave me an idea! I’m going to start doing a “on the menu” post at least weekly to post favorite recipes, or new ones I’m trying.
On the menu this week: Chinese Style Beef Ribs
Ingredients:
4 lbs lean beef short ribs
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup dry white wine
6 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons ground ginger
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teanspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon aniseed, crushed
Heat Oven to 350 degrees.
Place beef ribs in a plastic bag; set in a deep bowl. Combine soy sauce, dry white wine, minced garlic, grounde ginger, sugar, lemon juice, ground cloves, ground cinnamon, and crushed aniseed. Pour mixture over ribs in plastic bag. Marinate in refrigerator 4 hours or overnight, turning bag occasionally to distribute marinade evenly.
Remove ribs from bag and place ribs on a rack in a shallow roasting pan. Pour the marinade over the ribs. Cover and bake in a 350 degree oven for 1-1/2 to 2 hrs or till ribs are tender, basting with juices occasionally.
Serves 6.
De-lish! It takes a little bit of prep time but not much to it! Try it with me and tell me how it turns out!

I don’t think it is wierd at all that you cook. We hardly eat out. Then again, with at the least 6 kids (usually we are feeding foster kids and/or neighborhood kids) it is way cheaper to cook. I am excited for your recipes. I am always looking for new ones. I just love your blog.
