I’ve been searching high and low for an ornament for Baby O’s first christmas but everything I’ve found is tacky.
That is, until I found this.

so adorable and I love that it’s handmade. I would love to make this myself but honestly, my attention to detail is, well, limited.

This is what I’ve been doing all day:
(minus chasing Baby O around the apartment)

Baking Tres Leches Cupcakes from Scratch using Martha’s recipe.
Turns out 3 batches take a lot of time, and A LOT of eggs.

They looked so pretty though & made my place smell like baked sugar.
While dusting cinnamon on the 48th cupcake, I felt a warm sense of accomplishment.

I think I may be a little bit on the crazy side. If my furniture stays in the same place too long I get ancy. It’s been bugging me for MONTHS but with little monkey boy it’s been hard to rearrange. Yesterday I finally had the courage to attempt it. I LOVE the outcome…but still have a lot of mess to clean up. What do you think?

Closer look at the makeshift hutch. I bought both the coffee table and the bookcase at Deseret Industries a few years ago when Tim & I got married. They both were about $5 each. The bookcase is actually a piece of an actual hutch. I took out all my pretty white serveware (the cake stand I found at Ross for $7!) and the birds are actually Salt & Pepper shakers from Target. I looooove the antique pie plates! I found them at the flea market & am planning on giving them as gifts; but for now they are on display. The chinese tea mugs are from my parents (christmas gift from last year) and the soda bottles are just empty IBC bottles. Honestly, everything in the picture cost less than $10.

ps. can you tell I love baking & decorating? all the magazines piled on the sides are Better Homes & Gardens, Domino, Country Living or Martha Stewart.

I know it’s no magazine cover but I love all the extra pathways and room!

I couldn’t get these out of my mind so I went back for them.

I love, love, LOVE these vintage pie plates with the recipes printed right on them! I actually bought them to give away as Christmas gifts (I know, I’m a little early) but it will be hard to part with them.

I also snagged this for only $2.50!

I went home happy…..again.

I scored big time at the flea market last week!

I found a page from a day calendar in the cookbook, it was so neat!
The previous owner was making oatmeal cookies almost exactly 23 years to the date I bought it!

And lastly, I found this beautiful swan brooch that I bought for a friend of mine who’s maiden name is Swann.
I was sooo tempted to keep it for myself.

It’s no secret I’m a big fan of Martha Stewart. When I saw her cupcake book at Costco for half off I just couldn’t help myself. It is just FILLED with incredible ideas and my favorite thing? Most of the recipes have less than 8 ingredients! I also love that she tells which frostings tips to use, how to display them & even how to package them for gifts!

Definitely recommended.

I decided to attempt to be a little more suzie homemaker & made some more onesies. These I made for a friend who is having a girl this November! I also made some for a friend who just had twins but I forgot to take pictures. Amazingly, it’s super simple to do & my sewing machine is no longer collecting dust!

with a baby humungo in the family it’s inevitable that the number of empty formula cans rack up pretty quickly. Instead of throwing all of them out I decided to revamp them so I can use them around the house. Here is what I came up with but I have to admit I stole the idea from here.
